JAMMU & KASHMIR No braid-chopping reported anywhere : Police | KNO Published 339 weeks ago on October 23, 2017 By KashmirNewsObserver Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir Range, Munir Ahmad Khan said that no braid-chopping incident was reported from anywhere in the valley on Sunday. “It was an incident-free day,” Khan told Kashmir Reader in the evening. “There was some rumour about braid-chopping in Bohri Kadal (in Srinagar) but we briskly acted and there was nothing… We are investigating it.” The IGP said that police have filed cases against those arrested in Sopore for beating up an “innocent”. “We are investigating the case and those found to have a history of cases against them will be booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA),” he said. A mentally challenged youth was assaulted by a mob in Sopore on Friday on suspicion of being a braid-chopper. Police have since arrested 19 persons in night raids for the assault. Police said that there were some known “stone pelters” among those arrested in Sopore.
