Locals of Kanjinag village in Awantipora area of southern part of Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday said that a class 8 student was kidnapped by unknown persons from his home on Tuesday night. The locals including the family members staged a protest demonstration and sit-in on Tral Awantipora road, blocking the traffic movement near grid station. They were demanding the whereabouts of the boy who was identified as Munee Javeed. “Muneez Javed was kidnapped from the courtyard of his house in Kanjinag village around 6:45 pm last night by unknown persons. We tried to search him everywhere but couldn’t find him,” a family member of Javed told reporters. He said that the boy called for his father shortly before going missing. “We rushed out of the house after hearing him shout ‘Abbu’. But there was no one in the courtyard or the entire house,” said the family member, according to reports. Police has reached the spot and are trying to pacify the protesters. However, they refused to end the blockade. “We won’t end the protest until the whereabouts of Muneez are not known,” they said.
