Police on Thursday recovered a throat-slit body of a Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) activist under mysterious conditions at Kiloora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Official sources told new agency GNS that body of Gowhar Ahmad Bhat s/o Mohammad Auob Bhat, BJP Youth President Shopian, was recovered today evening at Kiloora with visible torture marks on body parts.
SSP Shopian Shri Ram while confirming the incident told GNS that they launched investigations to ascertain the cause of death.
“He said that they are verifying whether the deceased is affiliated to any political party or not”, SSP said.
Meanwhile,An encounter started between government forces and militants at Samboora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday evening.
A police officer told news agency GNS that a joint team of army’s 50 RR, SOG and CRPF acting on a tip off cordoned off Samboora area of Pampore.
As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area opened fire triggering off an encounter.
When reports last came in the intermittent exchange of firing was going on.
