In continuation of community outreach programs, Drug De Addiction and Rehabilitation centre, PCR, Kashmir conducted an awareness program in collaboration with J&K Ahsan foundation, J&K VHA, WHIPRO, Private schools association, Civil defence Srinagar and Tahira Khanams Charitable trust at TK's Institute Lawaypora, Srinagar. The participants included Asha health workers, civil defense volunteers, teachers, students and representatives of various NGO's.
Mr. A.K wani welcomed the guests and audience. Dr. Javed Iqbal, Principal TK's paramedic college elaborated on the role of parents and families in the prevention of substance abuse. Ms. Ifra, counselor from Drug de addiction centre PCR, discussed the various dimensions of substance abuse, role of parents, teachers and community.
Dr. M. Muzaffar who led the team of Police drug de addiction centre, PCR elaborated on scenario of substance abuse among youth, J&K police initiative and the services provided at Police Drug de-addiction centre, PCR. He further emphasized on the need for the involvement of community/educational institutions/ religious organizations to tackle the problems and concluded with a message that drug abuse is a preventable behavior and drug addiction is a treatable disease.
Dr. Afshan in her speech emphasized on the role of families and health care professionals to curb the problems. Ms. Nighat Aman, Deputy controller, civil defense, Srinagar appreciated the initiative of J&K Police and the services being offered at De addiction centre, PCR.
