DC calls for intensifying ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign | KNO

To generate awareness among the common masses about ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan’, District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar today launched 3rd poster to intensify ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign. The event was organized by the NGO Sampark Economical Development Society(SEDS). The society has been engaged for spreading awareness among the masses about ‘Save the Girl Child’. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC complimented NGO for organizing the thought provoking awareness campaign to spread mass awareness on the crucial social issue. The DDC said that such awareness programmes would go a long way in the empowerment of women through education and equal participation in all fields and prevention of gender based elimination of foetus. Enumerating on various objectives of the scheme, the DDC said that it lays special focus on girl education and close check on the menace of female foeticide. He said a sustained campaign has been launched in urban as well as rural areas to change the social mindset towards girl child. The DDC asked the NGO to organize such programmes on regular intervals to awaken the people. President of the NGO, Nisha Verma presented vote of thanks and gave a brief about the activities being carried out by SEDS in connection with save the girl child campaign. The programme was attended by District Panchayat Officer, Sandeep Seointra, District Social Welfare Officer, Rachna Sharma, Dy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Santosh Sharma, Secretary SEDS, Shifali Sharma, Senior members of SEDS Neelam Gupta, Sushant Begra, Shivali Vaid, B.R Radhay and other Office bearers of the NGO.
