AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er Rasheed has urged the Govt to address the genuine issues and problems of Fruit Mandi Sopore on top priority and fulfill the all promises made with the fruit growers and office bearers of the said fruit Mandi. While interacting with Fruit growers and office bearers at Fruit Mandi Sopore today, Er Rasheed as per the statement issued to KNS assured fruit growers of his full support in getting the genuine issues resolved. After the discussion, he appealed Govt not to ignore Asia’s second largest fruit Mandi. “It is unfortunate that despite the fact that Govt. had allotted 92 Kanals of land for establishing a transport yard for fruit Mandi Sopore, no further concrete action has been taken in this regard to resolve the burning issue of providing space to transporters. There are no arrangements for providing drinking water facility to the thousands of workers, growers and other people working in the fruit Mandi. While growers have deposited required sum more than a decade ago for getting shops in the said Mandi, It is disgraceful that most of the growers have not been handed over the possession,” he said. Er Rasheed appealed Director General of Police to show magnanimity and goodwill by vacating the illegal occupation of a police post inside the premises of Fruit Mandi. “The presence of a police post inside the fruit Mandi is neither required nor has any formal approval. In fact the authorities have forcibly occupied around five Kanals of land and a building for the said post which has resulted in hampering the work inside Fruit Mandi,” he said. He said that similarly Govt needs to form a concrete plan to promote High Density orchards in the valley by importing root stock rather purchasing plants which are costing hundred times more than that of the root stock cost. “Govt must also construct a quality control laboratory inside premises of fruit Mandi Sopore to check the quality of pesticides,” he said.
