Talking to reporters here after participating in the book release of Lt Gen (Retd) SK Sinha’s “Raj to Swaraj’’, Ms Sitharaman said, “The data shows that the flow of funds to the terrorists has clearly been choked after demonetization. As a result of which, from J&K in 2017 summer, the number of stone pelting incidents have come down.”
Meanwhile, she also stated that such situation made terrorists in attempting the bank robberies.
“And because they are really running short of funds, there have been a lot of attempted bank robberies,” she added.
Earlier in the day, former defence minister and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar also lauded the Modi’s government step of note ban and said it has helped in bringing terror funding under control.
“Several things like fake notes and financing of terrorism have come under control due to demonetisation,” Mr Parrikar said.
The BJP will observe November 8 as “anti-black money day” while the opposition including Congress and Left parties has declared to celebrate the day as “black-day”.
