SAMBA, NOVEMBER 11 (KNO) : Minister for Industries for Commerce, Chander Parkash today stressed on teachers to improve General knowledge of students along with academic studies. The Minister was speaking at the Annual day function of Govt Higher Secondary School Jakh as the chief guest. GHSS Jakh has been adopted by the Minister under the government scheme to involve legislators to contribute in the infrastructure development of educational institutes . A renowned social worker of the area and Vice President of IOC Prem Vashisht was the guest of honour. The event also witnessed felicitation of the school’s meritorious students under the aegis of ‘Shashi Prem Vashisht Prize Distribution Function’. Listing government initiatives in education sector, the Mister said focus was on to make education system employment oriented. He stressed on all-round development of the students and broadening of their knowledge base by keeping them updated with the happenings around the world in every field of human life. On the occasion, Minister also inaugurated newly constructed Badminton Court and called upon students to take part in extra-curricular activities. He inspected the school building and directed PWD to undertake necessary repairs and complete the ongoing works in a time bound manner. He said that since the adoption of GHSS Jakh by him, many steps have been taken for improving teaching material, aids and equipment and classrooms. He informed that the School is one of the 25 schools selected in the country for establishment of ‘Atal Tinkering Lab’ sponsored by Niti Ayog. Prem Vashisht , a former student of school gave Rs 5000 each to meritorious students of the school (10th and 12th Classes ) and also presented a cheque of Rs 1 Lakh to Principal for the establishment of ATL Lab. Two blocks of four rooms each was also announced by the Minister and Prem Vashisht. The school children presented a colourful cultural Programme on the occasion. Also present were Chief Education Officer Ram Paul Bal ,Principal Deepak Gupta ,XEN PWD Samba K.S Nathyal , SDPO Vijaypur, BDO Vijaypur and prominent citizens.
