Publicise fee details within week : DSEK to Private Schools | KNO

‘Any institution failing to respond within stipulated time, will lose recognition’

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 11 (KNO) : Taking cognizance of the reports regarding excessive fee being charged by some private educational institutions, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir has asked all the private schools in Kashmir division to publicise, within one week, the details of the fee charged by them. “It has come to the notice of the Directorate of School Education Kashmir that exorbitant fee is being charged by some private educational institutions, particularly some prominent schools, in various districts of Kashmir division,” said a notification issued by the Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo. It said a mechanism for charging fee by the recognized private educational institutions has been already put in place by the Government through SRO-123 dated: 18-03-2010. Enumerating the guidelines laid down in the said SRO, the Director School Education Kashmir said that every private school has to publicise the details of the fee structure for the information of the general public before the commencement of each academic session, the admission fee has to be charged only once at the time of first enrolment of the child/student in the school, no money from any source shall be accepted by any such school without due acquaintance and without being properly accounted for, there shall be no mid-session revision of the fee and the schools shall effect, any revision of fee, in consultation with the Parents Associations under an intimation to the concerned Director School Education. “In view of the framework setup by the Government, no private educational institution is competent to charge fee other than that stipulated in SRO-123 that too on reasonable rates fixed by the Government/Fee Structure Committee,” said the notification issued by the Director School Education Kashmir. It said all the private recognized educational institutions functioning in Kashmir division are accordingly informed to notify through media, within a week’s time, all the details of the fee including the amount charged within the ambit of SRO-123 from the parents/wards. “In case any school fails to respond within the stipulated time, the recognition of such school will be withdrawn without any further notice,” the notification said.(KNO)
