ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 12: Terming road connectivity as pivotal for development, Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri today inaugurated 12km Bijbehara-Anantnag stretch of the prestigious four-lane Srinagar- Qazigund highway project. The Minister was accompanied by SE R&B Anantnag, ADC Anantnag, representatives of Ramkay and National Highway Authority of India. Veeri asserted that better road connectivity is pivotal for bringing speedy socio-economic transformation in the State besides boosting activities of other sectors and State's overall development. With the inauguration of Bijbhehra- Anantnag stretch, the vehicles will cover around 2 km less distance to reach Anantnag and will also minimize the traffic jams in the Bijbhehra town. The four-lane highway comprises of five sections— Qazigund Bypass, Bijbehara Bypass Awantipora Bypass, Pampore Bypass and widening of existing Highway. Earlier in the month of October, Pampore bypass stretch was thrown open for the public. On the occasion, the Minister stressed on better coordination and teamwork of different Departments for speedy and better quality work under different Government schemes. He said that Government was abreast of the developmental needs and a comprehensive plan has been devised to mitigate people`s problem in a phased manner. The Minister also set the deadline for completion of the project by December end this year. He sought a detailed report on the ongoing work on the Srinagar-Banihal stretch and was informed that work is in full swing and December deadline will be met. He stressed on the officials to press more men and machinery for the ambitious project which will uplift the economic profile of the Kashmir. On the occasion, Veeri also said that with the completion of the project, connectivity within the State and outside will boost trade and mobility of the people and usher in overall development of the State.(KNO)
