Authorities have slapped 36th Public Safety Act (PSA) on incarcerated Hurriyat Conference (G) leader and Muslim League chairman, Masarat Alam Bhat. The fresh orders in this regard were passed yesterday evening by the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Muslim League sources told Kashmir Reader adding Masarat has been shifted to Kotbalwal jail Jammu during last night. Strongly condemning the slapping of yet another PSA on Masarat, a Muslim League spokesman said that authorities are taking court orders casually as if the said orders have no sanctity. Pertinently, the State High Court had only ten days back quashed Masarat’s detention orders and directed his release.

However, He was booked in a case registered in 2015 in Kupwara district when he was out of jail only for 40 days. “Supreme Court has time and again stressed that without any fresh facts no detention order can be passed,” the Muslim League spokesman said adding “but detention orders against Masarat Alam are passed without taking court orders into consideration.” Masarat, was arrested in October 2010 after he spearheaded the then mass uprising. His lonely sister passed away last year even then his detention was not revoked.
