JAMMU NOVEMBER 20 (KNO) : Principal Secretary, Home Department, R K Goyal today chaired a high level meeting to the review the arrangements for upcoming Armed Forces Flag Day celebration in the State. The Flag Day would be celebrated on December 7 to pay homage to the gallant armed forces personal. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary, Brigadier Harcharan Singh (Retd), Director Sainik Welfare, Additional Commissioner, Rehana Batool Additional Secretary GAD, Subash Chibber, Joint Director Information, Manisha Sarin, besides other concerned officers. Speaking at the meeting, Goyal stressed upon the need to significantly contribute in the Flag Day fund to ensure welfare measures for our valiant soldiers, airmen, sailors, ex-service personnel and their families. He said that we need to recognize enormous sacrifices made by armed forces for safeguarding the honour, glory, and safety of the motherland. He stressed on giving wide publicity of programmes and schemes of the J&K Rajya Sainik Welfare Board through means of public darbars, print and electronic media so that more and more people can donate funds for this noble cause. Director Sainik Welfare Board, Brigadier Harcharan Singh (Retd) briefed the chair about the activities, programmes and welfare schemes for Ex-servicemen, war widows and their dependents.(KNO)
