A complete shutdown is being observed in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday to pay tributes to three local militants killed on this day in 2015.
Shops and other business establishments in Chinar town and adjoining villages remained closed while movement of traffic was also affected due to the spontaneous shutdown.
Three Hizb militants – Aadil Ahmad Sheikh of Goriwan, Tanveer Ahmad Bhat of Baba Mohalla and Sartaj Ahmad Lone of nearby Wubzan village - were killed on this day in 2015 in a gunfight with government forces in Siligam village of Aishmuqam.
Massive protests had erupted in the area after their killings.
An eye witness said that people, braving biting cold, started visiting the martyrs graveyard at New Colony, Bijbehara to offer prayers to the the two deceased militants buried there.
In Wubzan village too, people were seen offering prayers at Zahoor’s grave.
