Srinagar, 23 Nov 2017 (KNO) : BB Cantt Army today paid befitting tributes to two of its comrades who attained martyrdom during two separate operations in Kupwara on 21 and 22 November 2017 respectively. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Corps Commander, Chinar Corps and all ranks paid homage to the martyrs on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, officials and representatives from the State Government and other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyrs.
Martyr Rfn Jitender Kumar, 23 years of age sustained bullet injuries during a fierce operation in Zarhama (Kupwara) on 21 Nov 2017 while trying to intercept a group of LeT terrorists. Martyr Rfn Jitender Kumar had joined Army in 2014 and hailed from Village Shaulana, Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. He is survived by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Martyr Sep Mandeep Singh attained martyrdom in a counter infiltration operation along Line of Control in Keran Sector (Kupwara). One terrorist attempting to infiltrate was eliminated in this operation. Sep Mandeep Singh, 32 years of age, hailed from village Chahal Khurd in Gurdaspur, Punjab and had joined Army in 2004. He is survived by his wife and a son.
The mortal remains of the martyrs were flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the families of the brave hearts and remains committed to their dignity and well being (KNO)
