H1N1 flu has claimed 7 lives in Kashmir Valley this season, said a medical official to Kashmir News Trust. He said a total of 34 cases have been reported among which 7 persons died to acute infection. The medical official added that 20 patients have already been discharged while 7 persons suffering from this flu are being treated at SKIMS Srinagar. “Swine flu isn't as scary as it seemed a few years ago, it's still important to protect yourself from getting it. Like seasonal flu, it can cause more serious health problems for some people. The best bet is to get a flu vaccine, or flu shot, every year. Swine flu is one of the viruses included in the vaccine,” he said.
