Arrests 25-year-old youth for murder, kidnapping girl to compel her for marriage

A 19-year-old girl was found dead in Gushi area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Sunday morning. In a swift action police has arrested a 25-year-old youth after filing a case for kidnapping to compel the girl for marriage. A police officer told that body of Gulshana Bano d/o Bashir Ahmad Bhat was spotted in her native Gushi village of Kupwara early Sunday morning. "The body was taken into custody and would be handed over to the family after completing all medico-legal formalities", the officer said. He said that a case, FIR no. 306/2017 under section 302 (murder) and 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) has been regestered in concerned police station. The officer said that a youth identified as Mohd Altaf Malik s/o Dilawer Malik r/o Sarmarg in connection with the incident and further investigations are under way. When contacted SSP Kupwara Shamsheer Husain said that the case has been cracked in record time of two hours as the murder and kidnapping has been found to have been carried out by Mohd Altaf Malik.
