While expressing deep concern over reports of torture of the Kashmiri prisoners in Tihar jail, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today said on one hand Center's interlocutor is in Kashmir and on the other inmates in jails are being harrased and tortured at the hands of jail staff. "This is not tolerable that jail staff will harrass and torture Kashmiri prisioners in jails. Talks and harrasement can't go together. If somebody is in jail, law will take its own course, but jail staff can't be given free hand to attack them," Hakim Yasin said in a statement issued from Jammu. Demanding a proper enquiry into the reports of attacks and torture on Kashmiri prisioners in Tihar jail, he said, "Government must hold an enquiry into this issue so that such things aren't repeated in future. Law is supreme and nobody can take it into his own hands." "Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) and violence can't go hand-in-hand. On one hand you talk about peace process and CBMs and on the other jail staff attacks prisoners in jails. It is unfortunate," the PDF chief added.
