The joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Wednesday pledged they will "never surrender" before New Delhi, saying the “rightful mission” will continue till the Kashmir issue is resolved as per the political aspirations of the people of the State. The trio were addressing a Seerat Conference organised by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Geelani at Hyderpora here. Geelani in his presidential address said, “Our prisoners are being tortured and subjected to physical and mental torture in state and outside J&K jails. We have only two options. Either we have to surrender or resent all the tough and brute situations (but) we will never surrender.” “Authorities are hatching conspiracies to divide us on sectarian lines,” Geelani said in a statement and stressed upon people to remain vigilant against all the “ploys and nefarious designs”. “Let us remain united and follow the divine teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). I am sure one day we will be free,” Geelani said. “India has no legal, moral or political justification to continue its occupation.” Shedding light over the life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Geelani said, “The Prophet of Islam (SAW) is not for any particular community, race, tribe or any particular group. He (SAW) is the complete model for life for the entire humanity.” “Prophet (SAW) came with the message of peace, prosperity, justice, equality and brotherhood and taught us to fight against those people who believe in oppression and who forcibly enslave human beings.” In his address, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said Muslims of the world in general and those living in Jammu Kashmir in particular, are living a “pitiable life” and are facing appalling situation. “Muslim Ummah is divided into sects and there is no peace and tranquillity. We need to follow the teachings of Holy Qur’an and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in letter and spirit and implement them in all spheres of their lives,” he said. “Islam revolutionizes human thinking,” Mirwaiz said, adding, “However we are distancing ourselves from these divine teachings and consequently we face bitter experience in every Muslim country particularly Yemen, Syria, Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.” “We are facing death and destruction in our state, waywardness is rampant,” Mirwaiz said. “Our political prisoners are being shifted to outside state and subjected to physical torture.” Mirwaiz said Kashmir issue is a reality and for raising genuine voices, “we are subjected to brute force by Indian authorities”. “We will never surrender and despite all repression and suppression, will emerge as victorious.” Muhammad Yasin Malik on the occasion stressed on unity among Muslims, saying, “Unification among our folds can guarantee success as we are facing tyrant authorities and their brute forces.” “It is obligatory for religious scholars and clerics to counter nefarious designs of oppressive forces. Their silence is unfortunate and painful,” he said. Malik said NIA is being used as a psychological war weapon against the leadership. “We will never surrender,” Malik said. “Despite all this, we will pursue our mission till Kashmir issue is resolved as per aspirations of people in state.”
