Samoon inaugurates 2-Day National Conference at GDC Udhampur | KNO

UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 01 (KNO) : Department of English, Government Degree College, Udhampur organized two days National Conference on the topic “ Routing the Rootless Exploring the Literatures of the Indigenous Cultures” Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon was the chief guest, while Dr. B.L Gupta, Controller Examination, BOPEE was the guest of honour on the occasion. While addressing the conference Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon appreciated the efforts of College administration for organizing this event and said that the conference shall come up with insightful suggestions that will go a long way in shaping the future strategies to be adopted for strengthening the Social, Economic, and Educational powers of the Marginalized. He underscored the importance of organizing such events and exhorted upon other departments also to come up with such initiatives. He said that Indian culture is a beautiful amalgamation of several cultures and we should preserve our culture and literatures, for new generations. He asked the College authority to organize National level Conference in Urdu department in near future also. Later, the chief guest released a book “Routing the Rootless Exploring the Literatures of the Indigenous Cultures”. Earlier, Principal of the College, Dr. S.K Magotra presented the welcome address and informed that about 100 participants from within and outside of the state are participating in the conference. About 168 papers will be presented in the two-day National Conference in parallel sessions at three venues of GDC, Udhampur. He further said that the main aim is to organizing this event is to create awareness among the students to preserve our culture. Among others, Prof. Kamal Kishore, Prof. B.D. Sehgal, Prof. Anil Khajuria, Dr. Ankush Bharti Prof. Attri, Prof. Dogra, Prof. Vaid Kumar, Prof. Rakesh Kotwal, Prof. Tania Akhtar, Coordinator; Prof. Kamaldeep Kaur, Organising Secretary; Prof. Shubhra Jamwal, Organising Secretary, Dr. Ankush Bharti, Prof. Sanjay Kumar; Prof Ambika; Prof. Vijay; Prof. Showkat, Prof. Muziffar, students and teaching staff were present on the occasion.(KNO)
