Governor and First Lady participate in 70th anniversary celebrations of Radio Kashmir Jammu | KNO

JAMMU, DECEMBER 2 (KNO) : Governor N.N. Vohra and First Lady Mrs. Usha Vohra participated in the “Yug Yug Jiyo- a music concert” organized to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Radio Kashmir Jammu, at the Genl. Zorawar Singh Auditorium. Sh. Rahul Sharma, an accomplished Santoor player, accompanied by Sh. Ram Kumar Mishra at Tabla, mesmerized the audience while Ms. Mallini Awasthi enthralled the gathering with her gazals and folk songs from Braj and Awadh region. Governor and First Lady gave high praise to the performances of both the artists and complimented Ms. Anjali Sharma, Station Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu for organizing such a captivating musical evening. Governor recalled the extremely disturbed situation in J&K when Radio Kashmir Jammu was established by Maharaja Hari Singh. He observed that, at that time, rumors spread by various rioting, anti-national elements were exacerbating the looting and killing which was already going on. RKJ played a vital role in informing the public at large about the true situation and also provided important information and guidance to the refugees and displaced persons and contributed to helping the Police to restore order. Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu; and a large number of prominent local citizens were among those who were present on the occasion. Ms Madhvi Sharma and Sh. Ravi Kant, both announcers of the Radio Kashmir Jammu, conducted the programme on the occasion.(KNO)
