Jammu, December 4 (KNO) : CPI (M) leader and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami asked the BJP-led Government in Delhi to clear its stand on dialogue process in Kashmir saying that the party has been giving contradictory statements over the issue. While reacting to a statement of Dr.Farooq Abdullah, BJP state unit said that violence and dialogue can't go together. While violence cannot be condoned, the fact remains that the root cause of the on-going violence in the state has to be identified and underlined. In a statement issued to press he said recently New Delhi appointed Dineshwar Sharma as its 'special representative' for Kashmir. The party needs to clarify what for Sharma was appointed and what is his mandate? Though there can be several contributory factors responsible for the present unfortunate situation, but the crucial reason remains the deepening massive alienation of the people. How to address this massive discontentment should be primary concern of any responsible government. The experience teaches us that credible process of dialogue is the only option for settling the issues. Of course, restoration of peace is the utmost priority but how to achieve this laudable objective remains a big challenge. Bullet for bullet policy has proved counter-productive. Only institutionalized and result-oriented process of serious talks can help the people to live in peace. The failure to follow-up on the talks held earlier has not created the conditions for a worthwhile dialogue and discussion which could have opened up opportunities for restoration of peace and resolution of the issues. The path chosen by the BJP government is bound to harm the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and is fraught with serious consequences for the country. What is required to be done is to take steps which can rebuilt shattered confidence of the people? The environment of trust and confidence only can strengthen the process of peace and normalcy.(KNO)
