Altaf Bukhari launches ‘Peace Education Manual’ | KNO

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 09 (KNO) : Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Saturday launched a training manual for peace education for teachers of Jammu and Kashmir, at SKICC here. “Training for Peace Education: Manual for School Teachers of the State of Jammu and Kashmir” has been designed by ‘Save the Children’ NGO in collaboration with Directorate of School Education, Kashmir as a peace education manual for school teachers of the State. The manual, which is the first of its kind in the State, has been created with the intent to promote and develop relevant training content on peace education for the school teachers of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, Altaf Bukhari said the State has gone through tough times taking a particular toll on students here and that it is high time that peace education was introduced in the State. He said that the turmoil in different parts of the world has resulted in the damage to the education to those particular areas. However in Kashmir, besides the turmoil for last few decades, the teachers have tried their best and put in their efforts to keep the candle of education burning and enlightening the society. He added that the teachers in J&K are the best in terms of qualification as well as dedication towards the deliverance of education. MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Secretary Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G.N Itoo, Special Project Director SSA, Abdul Rashid War, Prof Kavshikee of Jamia Millia University, Deputy Director Programs, Save the Children India, General Manager, Save the Children, Sharif Bhat and other concerned officials from Education Department were present on the occasion.(KNO)
