Official sources told that after receiving specific information about the movement of militants, Army laid an ambush near Barthipora village adjacent to Ganapora hamlet of the district. The sources said that as soon as militants passed through the village, army challenged their and exchanged heavy gunfire. However there was no report of loss of life or injury to either side so far. SSP Shopian AS Dinkar when contacted confirmed the firing incident. "We are ascertaining further details. The Army has confirmed to us that there was firing," he said.
