Peerzada Mansoor reviews progress of KVIB schemes | KNO

JAMMU, DECEMBER 11 (KNO) : Vice Chairman Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), Mansoor Hussain Suhrawardy has congratulated the officials of the board for achieving No. 1 position among Northern States for facilitating people about different schemes of board. This was stated by the vice chairman while chairing a review meeting of the board. He stressed upon the officers of the Board to promote the service of KVIB more effectively to the people of State. Secretary/CEO KVIB, Rashid Ahmad Qadri, Deputy CEO KVIB Jammu, Santosh Saraf besides senior officers of the Board were present during the meeting. He told the officials to work with more zeal and honesty and speed up process of achieving more goals of the Boards for which it has been established so that the achievement will be seen on gross root level and people living in far flung, rural areas and especially youth may get benefit from it. He also put stress upon organize awareness programmes mostly in the rural areas and provide information of all schemes run by the Board especially youth which can avail more benefits from such schemes to earn their livelihood. Manssor said that KVIB is imparting skilled development training to youths and also creating self-employment opportunities to the people. He said that main objectives of KVIB are to give women folk education and skilled training so that board will work as a helping hand in their economic stability. He further said KVIB is also working for strengthening of production of Khadi and village industry which are located in rural areas producing goods and render service in which beneficiaries will be benefited. The meeting was informed that to develop khadi industry they have put up efforts to put promote products at national level. He was also informed that marketing linkages have been taken up with the other Boards and States like Tripura, Goa and Karnataka to boost the sold outlets in these areas. During the meeting it was revealed that the target of Rs 125 crore have been setup for selling of goods from entrepreneurs and various other units of the department through these marketing linkages. It was further informed that trading activities like trade union business, boutique and other units have been initiated by the board and preference would be given to skilled persons.(KNO)
