Gang of fraudsters busted in Srinagar, 2 held : Police | KNO

Srinagar, December 14: Srinagar Police has arrested two persons involved in over a dozen cheating cases. Identified as Tahir Amin and Waheed Ahmad Bhat of Batamallo area of Srinagar city, the duo along with a lady accomplice, Masrat Tahir wife of Tahir Amin have cheated more than 30 business establishments all over the Valley during last six months. The gang used social media Applications and websites like OLX.com to cheat gullible customers by buying used electronic articles like Cell Phones, Ovens, LED TVs etc against fake bank cheques. Similarly, they used to buy articles including electric wires, bath fitting, clothing from renowned showrooms of the valley. Cheques of banks - Axis Bank, SBI and Punjab National Bank were used by them to make payments for the purchases. The Duo were arrested by Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh after getting a written complaint from one business man of the Sonwar area. Accordingly, a case (FIR 115/2017) under section 420 RPC was registered in Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh. During investigation dozens of other cheating instances by the gang came forth and accordingly gadgets/articles worth lacs of rupees were recovered from them. Numerous complainants from different parts of valley have approached Ram Munshi Bagh Police station. During investigation so far Police has recovered following items from the gang: 1. Mobile phone Note 8= 02 2. Mobil phone C9 GALAXY = 01 3. MOBILE PHONE V7 = 01 4. MOBILE PHONE GALAXY J7 = 01 5. MOBILE IPHONE= 02 6. MOBILE PHONE SAMSUNG =07 7: MOBILE PHONE J5 GALAXY =01 8. LED TV SAMSUNG =01 9. LEDTV SMART TV=01 10. LED TV PANASONIC =01 11. LEDTV SONY =01 12. LEDTV SANSUI =01 13. INVERTER with battery =01 14. Wire 1 mm HAVELLS =33 15. WIRE 1.5mm POLYCAB =09 16. Wire 2.5mm POLYCAB =15 17. Wire Polycab 1 mm =15 18. Microwave oven =01 19. Jaguar Bath fitting items = 37 Investigation of the case is still on and more arrests and recoveries are expected.
