Amid high expectations, the central government’s appointed interlocutor on Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma Monday on the eve of Christmas arrived on third visit to the State to carry forward the interlocution process. Immediately after his arrival on Monday, he went to frontier district of Kupwara where he is scheduled to meet at least 40 delegations from across the district, including border town Machil and Karnah. According to the KNB sources a number of delegations from across the Kupwara district were seen lined up at Dak Bungalow Kupwara to interact with Sharma, who is on the third visit to Jammu and Kashmir since his appointment in October. Sharma arrived at the Kupwara district headquarters around 2:00 PM amid a tight security cover. Meanwhile, soon after the arrival of Dineshwar Sharma, Dukhtaran e Millat Chairperson Aasiya Andrabi along with her party activists was released from central jail Srinagar. Sharma is credited for the recent amnesty announced by J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to 4237 first time stone pelters in Kashmir. “This time the Dineshwar Sharma has arrived on the occasion of Christmas, we hope he brought the mechanism of the long lasting resolution of Kashmir problem, as proves a Santa Claus for the downtrodden people of Kashmir,” said Tariq Ahmad while talking to KNB a Businessman from Srinagar. The top separatist leaders, civil society members and traders in Kashmir have refused to meet the interlocutor during his previous two visits to the State. Earlier on Sunday, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik in a joint statement condemned the summoning of Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s son, Syed Naseem Geelani, to Delhi by the Enforcement Directorate, they hinted the move is aimed to force the resistance leadership to force them for the meeting with visiting interlocutor. “Forcing one for talks by bullying is ridiculous,” said Mirwaiz and Malik in a joint press release on Sunday. Dineswar was appointed as interlocutor by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on October 23 this year for holding sustained dialogue with stakeholders in J&K. (KNB)
