Div Com visits Bandipora, reviews progress of works under CM’s commitments | KNO

BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 28 (KNO) : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed the officers to ensure timely completion of works taken in hand as directed by the Chief Minister during her outreach programme. The Divisional Commissioner was addressing a meeting of officers attended by District Development Commissioner, Sajjad Hussain, Heads of Departments, Chief Engineers, sectoral and district officers at Bandipora to review the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's commitments and decisions for the district made during her public outreach programme held earlier this month. Divisional Commissioner directed the officers for constituting separate inter-departmental Monitoring and Vigilance committees for monitoring and verifying of works so that accountability and transparency is maintained. He also stressed the need for obtaining feedback from the public regarding the works being done. He took a comprehensive review of all the 287 decisions taken by the Chief Minister and directed officers to submit the report to the DDC about works they have taken up within two days. The Divisional Commissioner gave on the spot directions in respect of each work and fixed timeline for completion of these works. He said that officers need to play a proactive role in the execution of these works at ground level, saying that adequate funds are available. He issued directions for maintaining documentation, besides pre and post photography of each work. While reviewing the decisions, the Divisional Commissioner directed for handing over 2 Kanal land to R& B department for construction of Marriage Hall at Bandipora and asked to start work by January 18. He directed concerned PHE Engineers to complete laying of water supply pipes within a week's time, adding that Rs 1.20 lakh pipes have been procured under the Chief Minister's commitments. He also directed the concerned to complete the work on sports stadium Sonawari within 15 days. Regarding development of Nishat Park and Gulshan Park in Bandipora town, the Divisional Commissioner directed for handing over the parks to Tourism Department and directed them to start work by February 2018. Regarding installation of street lights in Bandipora town, he gave the timeline of 15 days to the concerned department. He directed the Director Garages to provide a bus to Degree College Bandipora within one month. Earlier, the District Development Commissioner, Bandipora Sajjad Hussain briefed the Divisional Commissioner about the achievements made in respect of Chief Minister's commitments during last 25 days. He informed that Rs 4.60 crore have been sanctioned from Chief Minister's Secretariat, out of which fifty percent amount has been released and most of the works have been taken up with timeline fixation for completion while as some of the works have been tendered and DPRs of some works submitted to the concerned authorities. He also gave the physical achievements of some works and informed that transformer bank with a capacity of 27 transformers would start working within next four days. The progress of various development projects including district hospital, grid station and Lolab -Bandipora road were also discussed in the meeting.(KNO)
