Asiea Naqash for timely completion of development projects in Urban Development sector | KNO

JAMMU, DECEMBER 29 (KNO) : Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development (H&UD), Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare Asiea Naqash today directed the officers of the department to work with utmost dedication and speed up the pace of ongoing developmental projects including construction of Individual Household Toilets (IHHTs), Community Toilets (CTs) and Public Toilets (PTs) besides solid waste management projects taken up under Urban Development Sector and centrally sponsored scheme Swachh Bharat Mission in the State. The Minister was speaking during a meeting with the senior officers of H&UD Department convened to review and monitor the functioning of various central sponsored schemes and other flagship programmes being implemented in the State by the Government of India. The Minster directed the officers to utilize the earmarked funds for the year 2017-18 fully and judiciously. Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Romesh Kumar, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, R.A Wani, Director Urban Local Bodies, Jammu, Sushma Chouhan, Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Joint Director Planning H&UD and other senior officers of the concerned departments attended the meeting. Threadbare discussion was held on Urban Development Sector (Capex Budget 2017-18), development of Katra Town, development of Bus Addas, installation of LED street lights, construction of Community Halls & Towns, drainage schemes, IEC activities and public awareness programmes. The Minister directed the concerned to monitor the execution of works properly and ensure that quality material is used. She asked them to conduct field survey and prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for development of ponds and springs and submit the same to the concerned quarter for arrangement of funds. The Minister directed for ensuring mechanization of all Bus Addas and also instructed them for their face lifting. It was informed in the meeting that an amount of Rs. 2 crore has been released in favour of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) for purchase of buses. In the meeting, the Minister said the government is committed for overall development of the State for which it is mandatory for the executing functionaries to gear up their field functionaries and achieve the fixed targets well in time.(KNO)
