A man from North Kashmir’s Baramulla district Friday alleged that a Patwari in connivance with his brother tampered with his land documents and accordingly deprived him of ownership rights.
“The Patwari has been promoted as Naib Tehsildar and presently posted at Tehsil office Baramulla. I earnestly request the authorities particularly the Revenue Minister and Crime Branch to get the matter probed at an earliest,” Ghulam Muhammad Chopan, a resident of Walutra Rafiabad village of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district told reporters here in Press Colony on Friday.
Chopan said that after the demise of his father Abdul Rehman, the ancestral land comprising 23 kanals was equally distributed among four issues (two brothers and two sisters) of the deceased. My brother Ghulam Qadir hatched a conspiracy and with the help of our cousin Abdul Razaq greased the palm of the then Patwari Muhammad Maqbool Bhat who tampered with the land records and deprived me of the ownership rights. I am an ignorant and illiterate and don’t understand the language of Revenue Department,” Chopan told news agency CNS.
“The Patwari who is presently posted as Naib Tehsildar should be made accountable and authorities should check his credentials. I sincerely request Crime Branch and higher ups in Revenue Department to get the facts verified,” Chopan said.
Despite repeated attempts the official in question could not be contacted.
