State Govt awarded Rs 5 lakh to Chain Singh : Imran Ansari | KNO

JAMMU, DECEMBER 31 (KNO) : Recognizing the talent of shooter Chain Singh who made the State proud by winning six gold medals at 2016 South Asian Games besides clinching a medal in 2014 Asian Games, the State Government awarded Rs 5 lakh cash award for the sportsperson. The cash award for the son of the soil was sanctioned on the recommendation of Sports Minister, Molvi Imran Reza Ansari. Sports Minister, Ansari said, “Chain Singh has done us proud, his achievements at the National level and International level have inspired many a young sportspersons to take up sports in the state.” He further added that sports are to be developed as culture and not as part time activity. “Our youth has once again proved their calibre by starring their names at National and International events and I hope that they will keep the calibre and make our state proud,” said Ansari. He further retreated that the award to Chain Singh is a resolution for the New Year, so that more and more youth gets engaged towards the Sports. "We will provide every possible help in the form of facilities to the budding and aspiring sportspersons and to the youth in order to create interest among them in sports for their overall personality development,” he added. It is pertinent to mention here that Sports activities in the state have got a fillip in the past months due to the endeavours of the present dispensation which, besides upgrading the sports infrastructure, is focusing on felicitating the accomplished sportspersons to encourage them.(KNO)
