Div Com interacts with Srinagar traders | KNO

Directs for immediate redressal of their issues

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 3 (KNO) : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today held a meeting with the traders to take the first-hand appraisal of the issues and grievances of the business community . Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar, VC Srinagar Development Authority (SDA), SSP Traffic (Srinagar), Joint Commissioner SMC, Traffic Advisor to J&K government, officials from PDD, PHE, R&B and other concerned departments attended the meeting along with traders’ representatives from various areas of Srinagar headed by President of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Association, Mohammad Yasin Khan. On the occasion, Div Com was informed about various problems and issues faced by the traders’ community. The issues raised include parking issues for shopkeepers, regular traffic congestion around various business centres, regular power cuts, reallocation of shopkeepers and houses that come under road widening. After giving a patient hearing, Div Com passed on spot directions for the redressal of their genuine grievances. Div Com directed DC Srinagar, SSP Traffic (Srinagar) and Commissioner SMC to work in coordination and depute a dedicated team who will remain in the areas surrounding Amira Kadal for 15 days and look after removal of encroachment and unauthorized parking. He also asked shopkeepers to abstain from putting their goods outside their shop fronts. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Traffic, Srinagar, sought suggestions from the traders’ to develop parking space in various areas, especially in Shehr-i-Khaas so that the parking issue could be resolved at an earliest. Regarding the rehabilitation of displaced people in Zadibal area, the Div Com said that Chief Minister has already announced that they will be rehabilitated in Bum Choonth Bagh. He further said that process of rehabilitation will be carried out at an earliest. Besides other issues, road widening at various places in Srinagar was also discussed during the meeting.(KNO)
