JAMMU, JANUARY 07 (KNO) : Advisor to Chief Minister Prof Amitabh Matoo on Sunday urged the writers, poets and scholars to come up with a draft cultural policy so that government can come up with a comprehensive and inclusive cultural policy in future. He was speaking during the documentary film screening of ‘Kanh Ma Sa Tariv Apour’ at Abhinav Theatre. Matoo said though there is no cultural policy in the state but government is contemplating to have a cultural policy. He suggested to the writers, poets, artists and scholars to come up with a draft policy so that government can take that in consideration for further legislation to have a cultural policy in the state. He said that it would be better that scholars suggest a policy for the state which would be more inclusive as the policy framed by bureaucracy would be bureaucratic in nature. Earlier Samooh Theatre and the members of the family of famous poet, writer and teacher Master Zinda Kaul on Sunday screened a documentary film ‘Kanh Ma Sa Tariv Apour’ based on the life and contribution of the Late Master Zinda Kaul at Abhinav Theatre. Advisor to Chief Minister Prof Amitabh Matoo was chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion Professor Amitabh Mattoo appreciated the passion and the concern of Late Masterji’s family members in general and the noted singer Renu Lata Kaul, his great-granddaughter-in-law, in particular for accomplishing the task. He said the family has done a wonderful job by researching about the contribution of late Masterjie in the form of documentary. He said the documentary will help to inform the next generation about the work and contribution of Masterjie. Matoo urged the scholars to get the writings of the unsung heroes of the Kashmiri literature translated so that it can reach to a global audience. Dr Agnishekhar, an eminent poet and thinker also complimented the stupendous task of making this documentary film on the doyen of Kashmir' mystic poetry, Master Zinda Kaul, by his family members. He expressed dissatisfaction over the negligence of the concerned cultural institutions in projecting such great poets. He dwelt in detail about the philosophy and literally dimensions of [he poet. Master Zinda Kaul, who in 1941 had published Hindi poetry collections, entitled 'PATRA-PUSHPA'. He also appealed to the researchers and the critics to investigate in the widely reported allegations about plagiarism of Master Zinda Kouls world renowned book on art of Kashmir which is credited to the then Prime Minister of the Jammu & Kashmir, Late Ram Chand Kak. Bal Krishen Sanyasi, a Kashmiri poet, in his comments stated that Late Masterji took the contemporary mystic poetry to the new heights by emphasizing the essence & relevance of "Nirguun Upaasanar for an individual seeking communion with Parmeshwar . The programme started with bajhans & songs of Mastery, sung by the budding Kashmir singers Shubra Tickoo, Sharad Pandita and Shivani Koul. After screening of the documentary, mementos were presented to revered personalities, Kuldeep Saproo for music, Dr Agnishekhar, Hindi Poet & Thinker, BL Sanyasi. Kashmiri Poet, J K. Koul Bezan, Actor & Writer, Mr Ramesh Hangloo, Social Worker, Mr PN Koul Sahil, Poet & Author, Vijay Dhar, eminent Actor & Theatre personality, for their contribution in Art & Culture.(KNO)
