Seeks people’s cooperation to carry forward holistic, sustainable dev process

JAMMU, JANUARY 07 (KNO) : Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today conducted a whirl wind tour of his Gandhi Nagar Constituency to listen pubic grievances, problems and other developmental issues included roads, health, education, power, lanes and drains, traffic congestions, parking and development of parks. During his tour to Ward No 53 Khoo WaliGali and Trikuta Nagar, the locals apprised the Speaker about the problems being faced by them regarding dilapidated condition of lanes and drains in the area which are choked resulting in huge convenience on day to day basis throughout the rainy season besides material losses to the residents. Early redressal of repairsa and renovation work of lanes, drains and black topping of roads, link roads and installation of new street lights, remove the garbage from the nullah passing through the locality were also projected by the people. The Speaker gave them patient hearing and assured them that these demands would be solved in a phased manner. At Nanak Nagar Ward No 42 and Jallalabad Bathindi near Sunjwan the locals gave warm welcome to the Speaker. Interacting with the people, the Speaker said that the present government has started various initiatives for development and prosperity of the State. He said numerous welfare schemes have been launched in the State with the aim to improve the living standard of the people especially weaker sections of the society. He said number of welfare schemes have been introduced for the upliftment of women folk. Referring to the developmental works under execution in Gandhi Nagar Constituency, the Speaker said that the construction work on various developmental projects are apace in the Constituency and on completion of these schemes the people of the area will see change on ground in near future. He said the directions have already been given to the concerned executing agencies for timely completion of all ongoing projects with utilization of judicious funds and standard material. Kavinder Gupta said to mitigate the water scarcity at Bathindi and Batalla area a project costing Rs 18 crore each have been sanctioned. He further said that Rs 340 crore project has also been sanctioned for construction of over bridge at Kunjwani, Greater Kailash and Sainik Colony Marh. He said that Rs 127 crore project for flyover bridge at Satwari Chowk was also approved and the construction work on the project will be started soon. He said an amount of Rs 120 crore have been utilized on various road projects including SunjwanChattha in the Constituency. Earlier, the Speaker inaugurated Colours Salon and SPA at Janipur Jammu.(KNO)
