Speaker Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday did not accept the demand of opposition parties for a debate over the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Amid massive uproar by the National Conference, Congress legislators over another civilian killing in the valley on Tuesday during clashes, the government remained unmoved however it issued a statement on the incident.
The NC and Congress legislators were seeking answer from the government over the latest killing.
NC’s Devender Singh Rana asked speaker that government wanted “silence of graveyard” in the state.
“An honourable MLA is claiming that an innocent was killed by forces which needs an answer by the government,” Rana told the speaker.
MLA Homshalibugh Abdul Majid Larmi told the house that 18-year-old youth was killed in his assembly segment and over one lakh people are attending his funeral this time.
The house witnessed verbal dual between PWD minister Naeem Akhtar and opposition MLAs. Akhtar was targeted by Larmi as “disrepute to government”.
Later, the opposition legislators staged walk out to register their protest.
Independent legislator Er Rasheed stood silently in his seat and when opposition walked out he came in to well and asked minister A R Veeri to answer.
Later, Rasheed was dragged out by Marshalls on the direction of speaker.
