Activists of Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) on Wednesday took out a protest rally from Municipal Park to Press Enclave in Srinagar to seek probe into alleged manhandling of their leader and MLA Langate Er Rasheed in the legislative assembly in Jammu yesterday. Scores of party activists said that misbehaving and thrashing of the legislator had hurt the sentiments of people of his constituency. “It is insult to the entire electorate of his constituency.
If elected representatives are not allowed to raise issues of public importance on the floor of the house, surely, the democracy is in danger,” said Zeeshan, who led the protest. “Our leader was humiliated in the assembly for raising the voice of people. Some members showered choicest invectives on Er Rasheed while marshalls manhandled him,” he added. They alleged that Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has become a graveyard where only dead dwell. “They are devoid of any sentiments and feelings,” he said.
