The PDP legislator on Wednesday pitched for scarping of the SRO 202 and demanded implementation of the 7th pay commission in the corporations and autonomous bodies of the Jammu and Kashmir government. In a statement issued to Kashmir News Bureau, PDP MLC Mohammad Khurshid Alam on Wednesday in state’s upper house termed the 2015 job policy for the educated youth in the state as discriminatory and underscored the need for scarping of the SRO 202. Alam said it would be utter discrimination with the qualified youth of the state that after being recruited by the JKSSB, they would draw meager salaries that too when the wages of the daily wagers would be higher than theirs. “The daily wagers who would be regularized would get more pay than those who are being selected by the recruitment agencies of the state. This is sheer discrimination and needs to be ended by the government,” Alam said while speaking in the legislative council. He maintained further that when 7th pay commission is being implanted in the government departments, why corporations are being left behind “The people working in the corporations have their rights as well and they deserve the pay hike as par with the employees working in various government departments. It would be injustice with the corporation employees if we leave them behind and turn our heads away from their needs,” Alam added. Responding to Alam’s assertions in the council, the finance minister Haseeb Drabu stated that the government would consider the ways to address such issues which include SRO 202 and implementation of 7th pay commission to employees working in corporations.(KNB)
