DODA,JAN 18 (KNO) : The alertness of a civilian and strict action by the Doda Police averted a major tragedy by diffusing an IED which was planted by the ANEs on the road side in Bharat area of Doda today . Police received an information that One Improvised Explosive Device (IED) is planted on the road side near village Pounda on the main Bharat Road about 12 Kms from the District Hqrs. On receiving the information, a Police team comprising on SP Ops Doda Ravinderpal Singh, Addl. SP Doda Vinnay Kumar Kullar and Dy SP Hqrs Doda Iftkhar Ahmed, SHO P/S Doda Inspr. Manjeet Singh rushed on the spot alongwith Bomb Disposal Squad of DPL Doda. A team of Army (10 RR) also reached on the spot and a joint operation was launched for defusing of the IED. The movement of traffic was stopped to avert the damage to the local masses. The whole area was cordoned and the IED was defused by the BDS team of District Police and Army 10RR. The IED weighting about 10 Kgs. A major tragedy has been averted by the timely action of District Police and the Army 10RR. The whole operation was supervised by the SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir .(KNO)
