Government on Friday conceded to opposition’s demand and ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of 8-year-old girl in Kathua district of Jammu region. Soon after the opposition members staged protest over the murder of 8-year old girl namely Asifa Bano daughter of Mohd Yousf Pujwla in Rasana village,, the Minister for Parliamentary affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the house that government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. He said Deputy Commissioner concerned will conduct the inquiry, adding that guilty will be punished strictly. Meanwhile, social activist Advocate Talib Hussain said that the girl was bitten on face, abdomen and other parts. “She was abducted with an intention to rape. After carrying out this heinous crime, the girl was later brutality murdered,” he said. He said that had police acted promptly after the family filed the complaint, the girl would have been rescued. Talib alleged that there was “complete police negligence as they did not act promptly.” As per doctors, he said, the girl had died within 24 hours after her body was recovered. “I talked to SSP Kathua and gave him names of some suspected persons but I fail to understand why they have not been arrested so far,” Talib said, adding, “If police investigation was quick, they should have picked up all the suspects for investigation.” (GNS)
