The Rajouri based Non Government Organization (NGO) headed by young journalist and activist Chowdhary Rabiya Shafiq Friday held a candlelight march in solidarity with 8-year-old girls Zainab and Asifa who were recently kidnapped and murdered in Kasur Pakistan and Kathua Jammu respectively. The march which started from Jama Masjid ended at Gujjar Mandi Rajouri and witnessed a large participation of youth. A large number of people including women, children and youth attended the demonstration amid sloganeering like ‘we stand with you' and displayed banners expressing solidarity with the victims. They demanded punishment for the perpetrators of the heinous crimes. Speaking on the occasion, Chowdhary Rabiya Shafiq said the candlelight march was aimed to draw attention to violence against women all over the world, adding, the modesty of women should be respected in all ways no matter which place. “It is not an agitation but a peaceful candlelight march through it we appeal first lady Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti to intervene and ensure that killers of Asifa are handed down the death sentence,” Rabiya added.
