Altaf Bukhari inaugurates book fair | KNO

JAMMU, JANUARY 19 (KNO) : Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, today inaugurated annual book fair at Teachers Bhawan Gandhi Nagar. The fair was organized by the Directorate of School Education Jammu in collaboration with State Institute Education (SIE) Jammu. Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director School Education, S. Ravinder Singh, Project Director SSA, Project Director RMSA, Joint Director SIE Jammu, Mohammad Iqbal, CEOs, ZEOs, teachers besides others were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Altaf Bukhari said teachers put in their best efforts to keep the candle of education burning and enlightening the society. He added that the teachers in J&K are the best in terms of qualification as well as dedication towards deliverance of quality education. The Minister said that we need to be sensitive to the needs of not only the students but the teachers as well. He said the teachers need to be given trainings and refresher courses on periodic basis. The passion of being a teacher needs to be brought back by taking steps to build the image of a teacher and giving him/her an ambient atmosphere at schools. Appreciating the efforts of the Department in improving the educational standards in the State, Altaf Bukhari said the Department should be sensitive towards teachers and try to make them role models for the students, in whichever way possible. Altaf Bukhari said that Education Department has embarked on a revolutionary path to streamline the learning process in the schools. He said efforts have been made to make teaching enjoyable and passionate for teachers. He thanked the teaching community for having responded positively to his decisions and steps to streamline the educational system in the State. During the book fair, 39 publishers and Book Sellers exhibited the valuable books on their stalls.(KNO)
