JAMMU, JANUARY 20 (KNO) : Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today visited the relief camps at R.S Pura and got first hand appraisal of the arrangements put in place there for the border firing hit people.
Interacting with people at these camps, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the government is making every effort for the safety and security of cross border firing affected people putting up in various relief camps.
Receiving brief account from the district administration regarding the measures put in place to provide necessary help to the affected people, the Deputy Chief Minister asked for maintaining close coordination among all concerned departments to provide every help in case of any emergency.
He further directed for evacuating people from firing affected areas.
Directing to put in place all basic facilities at the camps, Deputy Chief Minister asked the camp officers to remain present at the camps and ensure availability of ration, power supply, drinking water, security and sanitation.
Dr Singh further handed over cheque of Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the NoK of deceased killed in cross border firing.
Responding the demands, Dr Singh informed that Union Government has approved Relief Fund for providing compensation for loss of livestock in cross border firing. He further directed the concerned to ensure timely and proper care of injured livestock.
The people projected demands which include provision of compensation for damages caused to houses, immediate construction of bunkers, establishment of permanent camps, availability of veterinary doctors and improved connectivity to border areas.
Visiting Community Health Centre at R S Pura, the Deputy Chief Minister enquired about the condition of people injured in cross-border firing and medical facilities being provided to them. He also assured full support of the Government to the people of border areas and appealed them to cooperate with the administration during the hour of catastrophe to ensure their security.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Rajeev Ranjan, SP R.C Kotwal, besides other senior officers from police and civil administration.(KNO)
JAMMU, JANUARY 20 (KNO) : Minister for Relief and Disaster Management, Javaid Mustafa Mir today visited the relief camps at R.S Pura to take stock of arrangements put in place there for cross border firing hit people.
The Minister directed the district administration for ensuring basic facilities in the camps, besides maintaining sanitation and hygienic environ in the camp premises. He directed the concerned for ensuring provision of ration, proper supply of power and water of the convenience of people, besides availability of vet service. He directed the concerned to remain available in the camps and be ready to meet any exigency.
The Minister interacted with people and said that the government would provide every possible support to them at this time of desolation.
Senior officers of civil and police administration accompanied the Minister during the visit.(KNO)
