Earlier, the students blocked a road outside the Kashmir University to protest against the varsity authorities for declaring them unsuccessful in more than one subject in recently declared results.
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday used force to disperse college students protesting at Maulana Azad road in Srinagar against the discrepancies in their results. An eye witness said that police swung into action after the protesting students blocked the busy Maulana Azad road to press for their demands,“The police manhandled us while we were peacefully protesting against the college and university authorities,” said a girl student. Earlier, the students blocked a road outside the Kashmir University to protest against the varsity authorities for declaring them unsuccessful in more than one subject in recently declared results. The students were demanding photocopies of their answer-sheets. The result of the first semester examination was declared on January 19 and that too after one and half year, they said.
Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari while reacting over the protests held by college students against the discrepancies said the government will take action against the officials involved in "creating this mess." He also appealed to the students to return to their home
