Srinagar, Jan, 24 (KNO) : Welcoming the concern expressed by the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres over the present situation in Kashmir including the rising border skirmishes between Indian and Pakistani forces led to great loss of human lives and property, and advocating dialogue between the two nuclear powers, the APHC said there was no alternative to dialogue for resolution of the vexed Kashmir issue. In a statement issued here, the APHC said the amalgam has been of the belief since very onset and it has been the stand of the Hurriyat that Kashmir issue is a political and human issue which can’t be resolved through military might. The APHC spokesman said that for the resolution of Kashmir issued, there was a need for a sustained and meaningful dialogue and that the dialogue process was the way out to ensure everlasting peace. He said war only leads to destruction of property and loss of human lives and in no way can be a solution to the problems. The spokesman reiterated that the main reason of rift and tension between the two nuclear powers and has been the reason for the three wars fought by India and Pakistan in the past in which hundreds of lives were lost on both sides besides causing loss of billions of rupees to both countries. The spokesman said that the lingering Kashmir dispute continues to take a serious toll in the form of death of Kashmiris on the both sides of LoC as Kashmiri people continued get sandwiched between the border firing on both sides which is unfortunate. The spokesman said that since past seven decades, Kashmiri people are facing worst form of human rights violations, state terrorism, and killing and maiming of innocent people, and the only way to end the sufferings of people of Kashmir is to either implement United Nations resolutions for right to self determination or Start a meaningful full dialogue between India Pakistan and the leadership of Kashmir Meanwhile, the spokesman strongly condemned the government move of converting entire Kashmir especially Srinagar into a military fortress on the eve of India’s Republic Day stating that forces have unleashed a reign of terror everywhere in Kashmir. The spokesman strongly denounced forces’ action of thrashing innocent youth at Lalipora, in Pulwama and snatching their mobile phones on the pretext of search operation. The spokesman said such acts are highly condemnable and such repressive measures can’t break the resolve of people of Kashmir towards ongoing movement.(KNO)
