United Jihad Council (UJC), an amalgam of various Kashmiri militant outfits, on Friday said the “so-called” Republic Day of India is a day of “pain and torture” for the people of Kashmir. It urged the world community to pressurize India to stop “committing worst kind of human rights violations” in the garb of being the world’s largest democracy. The conglomerate in a statement said the participation of ASEAN member nations in India’s Republic Day celebrations at New Delhi has raised grave concern among the “oppressed and subjugated” people of Kashmir. The UJC said the national days of India are the days of mourning for “not only Kashmiris but also for the North East states of India as the country makes the lives of crores a hell just to celebrate its day(s) of national importance”. The amalgam appealed to justice loving countries and people across the world to pressurize India to end the “policy of subjugation” of Kashmiris. (GNS)
