Sajad Lone inaugurates “Women Helpline Service” | KNO

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 03 (KNO) : Minster for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology Sajad Gani lone inaugurated Women Helpline Service (181) here today. Speaking on the occasion, the Minster said that the government has started Women Helpline Service (181) to provide 24 hours immediate response to women affected by violence and taking them to the appropriate authority such as police, One Stop Centre, hospital. The effort will ensure dissemination of information about women related government schemes and programs across the country. The aim of launching Women Helpline Service is to provide a platform for networking among organizations to facilitate rehabilitation of women in need of care and protection. Minister of state for Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash, who was also present on the occasion, said that Women Helpline Service will ensure proper counselling, care and guidance to women facing violence and to bridge gap between various government and non government agencies in this regard. It will activate entire machinery for better and focused outcomes in area of women welfare, she added. Chairperson State Commission for Women, Nayeema Mehjoor, Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare, Sajad Ahmad, Director Social Welfare Department Jammu, Veerji Hangloo, Director State Resource Centre for Women, Rifat Ara and other officials of the department were present on the occasion.(KNO)
