Jammu February 4 (KNO) : Urging mainstream parties to unite and fight to find a durable and acceptable resolution to Kashmir dispute, AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed has said that atmosphere is not conducive for holding Panchayat polls as on date. While expressing his views during all party meet in Jammu today Er. Rasheed said central Govt seems in much hurry and is pressurizing state Govt to conduct Panchayat Polls for the reason New Delhi has been using the elected Panchayat members to mislead world community viz-a-viz Kashmir issue. Er. Rasheed said, “It is unfortunate that at the time of conducting the Panchayat polls Govt claims these elections to be apolitical but once people of the state participate in the election, New Delhi claims it as its success and consent of Kashmiris to the maintaining of status quo over Kashmir dispute. It is shameful that India even uses the participation in Panchayat elections in United Nations as a tool to defend its unrealistic stand on Kashmir dispute. This unrealistic propagandistic and false approach has made the lives of Panch's and Sarpanch's vulnerable and many of them have lost even their lives. While even internet service is being snapped frequently, protests have become a routine, state terrorism is at its peak, and masses are seeking resolution to Kashmir dispute, it makes no sense to hold Panchayat elections. Mainstream parties should take sincere measures for restoration of their credibility by asking New Delhi to initiate a concrete result oriented dialogue for permanent resolution of Kashmir dispute”. Er. Rasheed entered into heated argument with Sham Lal Sharma of Congress and few others who were claiming that elections are only resolution to the Kashmir problem. Er. Rasheed reiterated that elections have nothing to do with Kashmir Dispute and those connecting elections with the Kashmir issue are distorting the history and misleading the world. (KNO)
