Pulwama: Awantipora Police on Monday claimed to have arrested five over-ground workers (OGWs) of militant outfit Jaish-e- Mohammad (JeM). In a press release, police
said, “On the basis of a specific input, Awantipora police along with 110 BN CRPF and
50 RR, arrested one person namely Sajad Ahmad
Bhat S/o Ali Mohd Bhat R/o Hergam Wuyan
Pampore, who is said to be a Pakistani trained
ex- militant.” “Soon after questioning, he
disclosed that he along with other OGW’s of
banned JeM outfit were involved in the grenade
throwing incidents in Pampore and Khrew area.
“Upon his disclosure following persons of the
said module were apprehended along with some
arms/ammunition: Umar Gani Sheikh S/o Ab
Gani Sheikh R/o Drangbal Pampore (Age 26),
Jan Mohammad Khanday S/o Ab Rashid Khanday
R/o Meech Pampore (Age 30), Owais Ah Bhat S/
o Ab Rashid R/o Danak Mohallah Khrew (23) and
Muzaffar Hussain Bhat S/o Gh Mohd R/o
Tulibagh Pampore (30).” Police said JeM which
was earlier having strong basis in Tral had been
dislodged from the area by conducting
intelligence based operations in which some of
the top commanders were eliminated and large
number of hideouts was busted. “After
continuous operations in Tral, they shifted their
focus in Khrew and Pampore belt, the slain JeM
commander Noor Mohd Tantray was the key in
creating this network of OGWs who was
eliminated in a joint operation of police/SFs on
25-12-2017 at Sambora, Pampore and after his
elimination the network mentioned above is
operating under the command/instructions of
Mufti Waqas from PAK who replaced Noor Mohd
Tantary of JeM in south Kashmir,” police said.
Meanwhile, a case under FIR Nos 08/2018 U/SS
18,18B,20,39 ULA (P) act and 02/2018 U/Ss 307
RPC,3/5 Exp Sub Act stands registered in P/S
Pampore/Khrew and the investigation has been
taken up.
