A 6-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Sopore town sparking off massive protests. Reports said that a pack of stray dogs appeared in Wadoora Payeen village late Monday afternoon and attacked the minor girl namely Hadiya Mushtaq daughter of Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, who was after returning from a local Madarassa. In the surprise canine attack, Hadiya was seriously hurt. Dozens of villagers rushed out of their houses on hearing the screams of the injured minor. “The minor was removed to the hospital, where the doctors declared her dead on arrival,” reports told GNS said. A police officer while confirming the incident said that the body of the minor was handed over to her family after conducting all legal medico formalities. The tragic deaths triggered off massive protests by the locals in the area. Chanting slogans, the protesters alleged that the government has failed to provide security to the people, especially children from the canines.
