Traffic on the highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the world, was suspended again on Wednesday following fresh landslides. ”We have suspended traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway following fresh landslides at Anokhi fall on Wednesday,” a traffic police official told UNI. He said the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway, have already pressed into service sophisticated machines and men to put through the traffic. It will take some time to clear the landslides, he said. Today, Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) traffic will ply from both Srinagar and Jammu, while heavy vehicles will ply from Srinagar to Jammu only. No heavy vehicle will be allowed from opposite directions, including government force vehicles, he said. On Tuesday, traffic on the highway was suspended for about eight hours due to landslides.
