Pulwama (KNO) : The chief judicial magistrate Pulwama has directed police to investigate and register first information report in case of death of a lady patient, who died at district hospital allegedly due to negligence of a doctor. Syed Basharat Saleem, son of Syed Ahmad Ullah, a resident of Ratnipora Pulwama has moved an application through his counsel before chief judicial magistrate Pulwama pleading before him to direct police to register a case against Dr. Farooq Ahmad Bhat posted at district hospital Pulwama. In his application Saleem submitted that his maternal aunt, Rafeeqa, wife of Syed Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Puchal Pulwama was under treatment of Dr. Sharief, an orthopedic surgeon and in January 0f 2018 she was examined by the said orthopedic surgeon who advised her for consultation by a physician because she was having chest pain and accordingly Rafeeqa along with her husband went to district hospital Pulwama where Dr Farooq Ahmad who was on duty on that time examined her. The complaint further submits that after examination the said doctor prescribed medicine on the outdoor patient card where one of the medicines which the doctor prescribed was injection, GRAVIDOL 200mg and all the medicine including injection GRAVIDOL 200mg were arranged and were shown to the Dr. Farooq Ahmad , who handed over the same to medical assistant and directed him to inject the above said injection to the patient. After the injection the patient felt restless and her condition started deteriorating, the complaint immediately informed the doctor about the same but “Dr. Farooq Ahmad didn’t bother to examine the patient again and stated that he is a doctor and knows the job well and finally the patient died.” The complaint further submits that the said doctor after the death of the patient tore the ECG report and Saleem pleaded through his counsel that the patient died due to injection GRAVIDOL 200mg. Saleem through his counsel pleaded that GRAVIDOL 200mg is used for controlling blood pressure but the patient at the time of examination by the doctor was having blood pressure, 100/75, recorded by Dr. Farooq Ahmad on outpatient card at the time of examination of the patient and he pleaded that Rafeeqa died due to negligence of Dr. Farooq Ahmad and prayed that station house officer Pulwama be directed to register an FIR under relevant provisions of CrPC. The chief magistrate Pulwama after hearing counsel of the victim and perusing the complaint and the outpatient card directed station house officer Pulwama to investigate and register an FIR under section 156 clause (3) of CrPC. The chief magistrate directed senior superintendent of police Pulwama to monitor the investigation of the case so that no injustice is done to any party in the matter and asked police to submit the report within 10 days beginning from 7 February.(KNO)
